Cooling industrial workstations - efficiently and economically
The next summer is sure to come. When the temperature climbs to over 30 degrees, the focus will once again shift to the cooling of production halls. Comfort is no longer an issue and productivity drops. In ventilation technology, comfort is defined as the state in which people feel most at ease. This is a subjective assessment. Exact physical limits are therefore difficult to find, but a comfort range is. It is largely dependent on the temperature. But it also depends on humidity, air movement (draught) and, of course, air quality.
The requirements for cooling and temperature control vary:
- To cool individual workstations, it is often sufficient for the inside temperature to be noticeably lower than the outside temperature.
- In halls with high-precision production, a defined and usually narrow temperature band must be maintained.
Whatever the task, intelligent systems from Kappa ensure efficient and economical cooling and heating in the hall.
1. Efficiently cool industrial workstations
Kappa CC CoolTM is the solution for halls in which no strong thermal processes take place, for example assembly or testing activities, mechanical processing with good extraction, warehouses, etc. - they were previously difficult or expensive to cool.
CC stands for Corporate Comfort. The system works with the air diffusion developed by Kappa. It ensures uniform cooling that is perceived as pleasant. Conditioned supply air is distributed via Kappa DiffusorsTM in all areas of the hall to be cooled. It is pushed under the hall air like a wedge - without mixing with it.
Air diffusion can be used for both cooling and heating, is completely draught-free and is perceived as very pleasant. Its effect is therefore comparable to that of convective underfloor heating. The supply air is treated by the Kappa MTATM System and depending on requirements, from pure fresh air from outside or from fresh air combined with recirculated air (filtered, cooled or heated).
Kappa CC CoolTM ensures cool and fresh supply air in the hall and therefore good air quality in the workplace. In short: Kappa CC CoolTM creates comfort - fresh coolness and clean supply air. And the Kappa CC CoolTM can also be used for heating during the heating period. The advantage over conventional cooling and heating systems such as radiant cooling and heating systems like underfloor heating or radiators is that temperature control takes place in real time and cooling and heating are available immediately. And, no additional structural measures such as concrete core activation are necessary.
The system also uses cool evening, night and morning air through the Kappa CC FreeCoolingTM automation module. All surfaces in the hall store the cold and serve as a cold buffer during the day. Kappa CC FreeCoolingTM does not require refrigeration for cooling. The conserved cold cools the hall air during the day by releasing cold from the surfaces.
Kappa CC CoolTM at a glance:
- Individual work and hall areas are efficiently cooled or heated.
- Cooling or heating is available immediately and in real time.
- The temperature is perceived as comfortable.
- Defined work and hall areas are supplied with clean supply air.
- Economical cooling by means of cool night air through Kappa CC FreeCoolingTM without external cooling energy supply.
2. keeping halls within the exact temperature range - active cooling and heating (temperature control and air conditioning)
High-precision production processes generally require perfect temperature control of the hall and only allow a narrow temperature range. The Kappa A.I.R.TM system was developed to meet these requirements.
Kappa A.I.RTM combines exhaust air technology, ventilation technology and energy technology in one system. The overall solution ensures that the individual modules are perfectly coordinated. This begins with the capture and separation of industrial emissions and ends with precise heating and cooling.
ses the innovative air diffusion developed by Kappa. For this purpose, Kappa DiffusorsTM are placed over a large area on the hall floor. They ensure that the cooled fresh air diffuses in. This takes place without annoying draughts. The fresh air does not mix with the hall air and flows around all obstacles. All workstations in the hall are thus supplied with fresh air over a wide area. After just a short time, a stable lake of fresh air forms in the entire work area. It displaces the waste heat and emissions from the work and recreation areas upwards to the hall ceiling. There they are collected and extracted over a wide area using adjustable Kappa COCTM extraction panels.
In the Kappa MTATM exhaust air purification and air treatment center, the exhaust air is purified and the entrained waste heat is recovered. The fresh air is also treated - it is filtered, cooled or heated.
The entire hall is efficiently and economically heated to the required temperature with Kappa A.I.R.TM. The required temperature range can be maintained all year round.
Kappa A.I.R.TM im Überblick:
- The entire hall is cooled or heated economically.
- Cooling or heating is available immediately and in real time.
- The temperature is perceived as very comfortable.
- The entire hall is supplied with fresh air.
- Emissions are reduced throughout the entire hall.
- Emissions and waste heat are dissipated from the entire hall - without accumulating emissions and overheating the hall.
- The waste heat is recovered.
- Economical cooling by means of cool night air through Kappa CC FreeCoolingTM without external cooling energy supply.
